The beneficial effects of heat treating wood have been recognized for centuries. Thermowood, as it is known today, was pioneered in Finland 20 years ago. Now ThermoForest Products has re-engineered and refined our process to suit North American standards for mass distribution at highly competive pricing.
Thermowood was pioneered 20 years ago in Finland. For the past nine years thermowood has been commercially produced in a joint project with the Tampere University of Technology in Finland, Europe. Today there are thermowood operations in Finland, Norway, and Germany.

Since we began in 2001, Superior Thermowood has worked on “made in North America” engineering and design developments. Our current EcoDryer represents the second generation of the design with dozens of improvements to the process and the equipment. The original thermal modification science was based upon cellular collapse which, in essence, diminishes structural integrity while enhancing other characteristics.

Through years of research and development we have moved away from cellular collapse and, through science, continually improve cellular stability and maintain all other benefits associated with thermal modification.

Today, we are one of North America’s most experienced thermowood companies, producing ThermoForest products and manufacturing state-of-the-art EcoDryers.
