Our unique process doesn’t simply dry wood it changes it much the way nature does. The natural “ageing” process results in wood that’s hard, dry, dense and resistant to water and rot. Our EcoDryers produce wood that’s remarkably similar to samples over 100 years old. By ‘cooking” wood with heat and water vapour much of the warping, twisting and cracking that can result from traditional processes is avoided. The need for chemical treatment is eliminated because most of the natural occurring sugars are removed along with the moisture and sap, substantially reducing the threat of attack from insects and rot fungi. Thermowood weighs less, holds coatings extremely well and displays a palette of appealing colours from warm gold to dark brown color.
