The Best Solutions Bring Multiple Benefits
The STW EcoDryer carries a host of environmental benefits. Some are obvious to the eye, while others are much less apparent but just as important.
“Alarm Raised over Pressure Treated Lumber a Decade Ago”

Concerns about chemically treated wood, from both the general public and industrial users, played an important role in our decision to consider thermowood solutions. But, today there are many more reasons for change and a real need for fresh thinking.
The lumber industry has experienced a multitude of problems in recent years. There is a definite need to create products that appeal to consumers, address “value-added” demands of manufactures, and deal with mounting environmental concerns.
STW offers new solutions to an industry that’s been mired in the past for too long.
Our goal is to be the North American leader in eco-friendly thermowood, by providing our sub-licensee’s with the facilities required to produce it. STW’s EcoDryer technology is unlike systems found in Eurpoe. Our unique “closed loop” system is designed to prevent emissions from entering the atmosphere, and condensate is collected and processed by licensed facilities for treatment. STW is particularly proud of the design advancements, and the product improvements that are result from our engineering and development work.
Thermowood is naturally resistant to attack from rot, insects and moisture without the use of expensive, environmentally damaging chemical treatments. It provides greatly improved insulative qualities, and the lighter weight requires less fuel in shipping. The STW process allows fast growing and underutilized species to be turned into highly desired woods for manufacturing.
Superior Thermowood’s environmental impact is clearly positive.

• STW’s EcoDryers are principally a “closed loop” system. Other thermowood processes usually exhaust the waste, heat and energy into the atmosphere.
• Superior Thermowood’s design constantly recirculates the hot air and steam, along with the gases and emissions that are given off by the wood, burning them off during the process.
• Condensate is collected in a tank below the EcoDryer for treatment.
• In the future, wood waste or biomass will be utilized as a fuel source.
